ABOUT US

HISTORY AND OVERVIEW

Since its beginnings in 1996, The Dwelling Place Ministries (TDPM) has resolved to be instrumental in advancing the Kingdom of God in the lives of the residents of urban centers throughout our nation by improving education in the lives of our children as a way of exposing them to the love of God and improving their access and opportunity to quality education.  This we believe, advances more than their just urban children’s socio-economic status in society, which would be a noble and worthy cause in and of itself; this however provides them with a semblance of the very goodness of God that He desires would draw all humanity to Himself and to repentance. The Dwelling Place Ministries (TDPM) has designed its ministry to have extended and prolonged influence in the lives of the families and children in urban communities by ministering to the whole family and the whole child

The Dwelling Place Ministries (TDPM) began its first church plant in Lake View Terrace California and grew into a vibrant church and ministry that expanded to Inglewood, California where it presently oversees a coalition of other non-profit corporations that operate a full rubric of ministries and educational institutions designed to address and confront some of the greatest challenges facing urban communities.  The Dwelling Place Ministries (TDPM) has answered the call of God that compels us to be salt and light and to focus our ministry efforts on the least of these, the most innocent and most vulnerable in our community; our children and the fulfillment of their God-given potential.  We believe:

  • That real ministry is the practical outgrowth of God’s people taking His Word seriously and applying it to the context of their lives, the communities they’re called to serve and the time and world in which they’re called to live in.

  • That the Church is created by God to be more than just a name and an address within the community, but the Church is empowered to be the difference that God uses to reflect His goodness, grace and glory (His love) to draw the community to Himself, and to fail to act on behalf of those who can’t act on behalf of themselves would be unbiblical and unconscionable.

  • That the Church’s greatest and primary mission is to serve Jesus as it serves and supports the needs of those in its Jerusalem, (its City) and to do otherwise would be to disobey Him, ignore Him or just pretend that the need doesn’t exist
