Growing in Grace, Peace, Truth Through Knowing God Intimately

TDPM Life Groups Mini Assembly : Growing in Grace, Peace, Truth Through Knowing God Intimately (The Knowledge of God)

Read Scripture:

2 Peter 1:2, 5-8 New English Translation 2 May grace and peace be lavished on you as you grow in the rich knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord! 5 For this very reason, make every effort, to add to your faith excellence, to excellence, knowledge; 6 to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness; 7 to godliness, brotherly affection; to brotherly affection, unselfish love. 8 For if these things are really yours and are continually increasing, they will keep you from becoming ineffective and unproductive in your pursuit of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ more intimately.

Pivot to the discussion by asking the following questions:

1. As you and your family transition through this crisis, how have you grown in God’s grace (God acting in our life to accomplish what we cannot accomplish on our own), truth and peace? 2. How has this motivated you to go and grow deeper in your relationship with God?

3. How are the disciplines you have learned and are practicing, assisting you in understanding the process of how God changes people and how has that worked itself out in your life?

Ministry Focus

1. These scriptures highlight the amazing gifts of grace, peace and truth that God multiplies upon our lives as we grow in our intimacy with Him, especially during times of crisis, like we’re facing today.

2. Life Group Leaders and members should be encouraged to discuss how God is challenging them to grow through the difficulties as they intentionally add to their faith the things that can only be given by God’s Spirit as they pursue growing in their personal intimacy and knowledge of Him.

3. Also, please be reminded that growth is never constant, consistent or continuous and is filled with digressions, detours and disappointments that God through His Goodness and Grace, as a Shepherd, leads us through as we continue to be authentic, transparent and honest with Him and others about our challenges, struggles, setbacks and victories. Throughout the process of growth that leads to maturity, we realize that the more we literally cling to Him, who has “overcome the world”, the more we overcome the challenges in and of the world.
