Which Truth is the Truth?

TDPM Life Groups Mini Assembly : Which Truth is the Truth?

John 18:36-38

36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.

Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate.

The greatest distinction that would define the reality, destiny, and destination of the believer and the unbeliever is truth according to God. When the Bible talks about truth, it is not talking about truth according to us, according to the inclinations of our society, or according to the changing times. When the Bible talks about truth, it is talking about the absolute truth as defined by the Truth, Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God. Jesus Christ is called the Truth.

Biblical truth is supposed to resonate with the Believer, the Remnant. As Believers, we’re supposed to love the truth. However, before you can love the truth, you must

  • believe the truth

  • accept the truth

  • apply the truth to your own life

  • love the One who is the truth and the giver of truth

  • be willing to reject what is not the truth

  • and repent for believing things that are not the truth.

We are living in the end times where there will be great deceit and deception. God will allow this because people have denied, dismissed, rejected, and suppressed the truth. In 2 Thessalonians 2:11, The Bible states, “For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie…” Romans 1:25 says, “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie…”. 2 Thessalonians 2:12 continues with “and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”

Jesus Christ is coming back for His church, the Remnant, but He’s also coming back to judge the world. As Christians, we will not be judged because Jesus took our judgement and the judgement of the world upon Himself. Therefore, we will not experience the wrath of God. Jesus experienced that wrath on the cross for us. But those who are not Believers and are not living by God’s truth will be judged by the truth.

The Bible says judgement starts first with the church, the people of God. We need to repent of believing information, doctrines, or opinions that are lies because they are not biblical. These lies come from the father of lies, Satan himself, and are designed to cause Believers to believe things that are untrue about God, His nature, His character, and His attributes. These lies are designed to make us believe that God’s truths are not absolute, but they are situational and without clarity and without distinctions. God does make distinctions, and he does make Absolute Distinctions. God makes distinctions of the righteous and unrighteous.

The time to choose is now: Repent of false truths, return to God, and embrace God’s truth!
